Fix “iTunes Could Not Connect to This iPhone, The Value is Missing”

Step 1: Update iTunes manually in case you missed the automatic iTunes update

  • Launch iTunes and click on the Help tab in top left area of home screen
  • Click Check for Updates from drop down menu
  • This will install the most recent version of iTunes if it was not up to date, else you get the confirmation that the version that you’re currently running is the current one
  • Restart your computer to register the iTunes update.
  • For Mac users, open iTunes then find a menu bar at the top and choose iTunes and Check for Updates.
  • Make sure that after an update you are running the latest iTunes version (iTunes 12.5.5) or newer so as to be able to connect an iOS 10.

Step 2: Update iOS

  • Unlock your phone and open settings
  • Scroll down and tap general > software update
  • If your iOS is not up to date you will see an option to download and install to update your device
  • If your iOS is up to date, it will display a message that your device is up to date.

Step 3: Uninstall and reinstall iTunes

  • There might be a software related issue. Chances are that iTunes might be got corrupted
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes will delete all your files and you will have to download it again
  • Many a time’s iTunes says that it is up to date but actually it is not. In such a case it is necessary to reinstall iTunes
  • To prevent your data from getting lost, make an iTunes library backup by taking a copy of files in your My Music iTunes folder 
  • You may be asked for a verification code, make sure that you have signed into your iCloud account on your phone

Step 4: Start your computer and reconnect iPhone

  • Many times there could be temporary issues regarding USB port of your PC which might get fixed after restarting.
  • Restarting your PC resets all your driver and there are chances that it may fix the problem
  • Try using different USB port
  • Try to check by using the original USB first and then choose a different lightning cable or USB cable later.

Step 5: Reset your iPhone or factory reset

  • Create backup of your iOS device using iCloud as this process will completely wipe out all your data
  • Go to Settings > iCloud > Backup and make sure that the feature is enabled
  • For performing rest on your iPhone, go to settings > general > reset > and finally select erase all content and settings
  • Enter your apple id password to run the required action
  • Once the factory reset is done and you could see the welcome screen then you can restore your data via backup created on iCloud.

Step 6: Use alternative of iTunes to transfer data

  • There are many alternatives to iTunes like iOS transfer, iMyfone tunes mate, WonderShare tunes go, MediaMonkey, Syncios, Swinsian etc. Most of them are free and you may download it from their website
